Adult Mission Trip 2009

Mission Trip 2009-05

We have returned from our mission trip to the Gulf Coast! We drove to Camp Coast Care in Long Beach, MS; a long but entertaining car ride. We had nine people participate in this mission, 2 from outside LSLC.  The overall contingent at the camp was about 50, including 11 AmeriCorps volunteers.  Together we worked on a total of five homes.  Our group spent the week working on two houses, completing one and preparing the other for interior paint, with a lot of mudding and sanding the drywall.  Part of our group also worked on framing a bathroom and securing the stilts the house sat on.  Some of us were able to meet the homeowners, which was a privilege for us.  God works in amazing ways to help these people!

After the long workdays, we spent time building relationships, relaxing together, walking on the beach, taking a side trip to Louisiana, sharing meals, and participating in worship and devotions.  We also rested a bit!  It was a great experience for our group, and we felt we gained much more than we gave.  Thank you for your prayers and support for this mission.  Please keep this in mind if you are interested in coming next year!  A lot of us are already getting ready for another mission!
