Purpose

To provide a high quality preschool and after school care program which nurtures the development of children in a Christian environment and serves as a ministry to the surrounding community.

Philosophy

We believe that children are unique individuals who develop at different rates and have different learning styles and abilities. They learn trust, appropriate behavior and self-control through nurturing interactions with parents, teachers and peers.

Goals

To provide physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual development in a Christian environment. To encourage each child to develop to his/her fullest potential at his/her own rate in his/her own style and ability. To provide a learning environment that is rich, varied, warm stimulating and safe for young children. Experiences and materials are based on the stages of development in young children and provide opportunities for exploration and discovery. To promote the development of a positive self-concept and self-discipline, facilitate language development and increase knowledge and understanding. To emphasize life skills including Christian beliefs, making positive choices, getting along with others and caring about self and others. To introduce academic skills through play as children are developmentally ready and interested. To support positive family life and work in partnership with parents to facilitate the growth and development of their children. Parents are valued, respected and encouraged to participate in all aspects of the program.

The book Creative Curriculum by Diana Dodge is used as a reference. Parent / Teacher conferences are held in the fall and spring. The Brigance Preschool Screen is used prior to the conferences. Children ages three and older will go on field trips in the mini-bus. Children are exposed to Christian values through role modeling by the staff. Chapel is held once a week for children age's 2 years and up.
